The Leopard (panthera pardus) is one of the four big cats – the others being the tiger, the lion and the jaguar.  It has the largest range of the big cats as well as being the most adaptable to different habitats. The leopard is also the most misunderstood and persecuted of the big cats with  ever shrinking natural habitats leading to changes in leopard behaviour resulting  in increasing conflict between humans and leopards.
