Mission Leopard 2025
Jack here, since 2003 when 109 leopard skins were seized in Kathmandu through many events since including the rewilding of Asa (see video below), the leopard has been a big part of my life.
Mission Leopard is cinstantly evolves as we expand on projects aimed at improving human and leopard coexistence. Our key tool LeopardEye is developing with significant progress regarding early warning systems and conflict deterrence systems.
“Protect the Leopard to Protect the Himalaya” is the flagship project which is a progression from The Sacred Valley Concept. Currently in conjunction with local communities and authorities in the Annapurna Conservation Area in Nepal, this project is developing with the goal of increasing protection status for the leopards and their habitat. An interesting aspect of the project is “all things leopard” which is how the snow leopard, clouded leopard and leopard cat are brought into the project as highlighted species along side the big cat simply known as the leopard.
This flagship project also ties in with our collaborations for Ecosystem Reboot – Rehabilitation and Reintroduction to the Wild
You can get updates at my Substack HERE and there will be expansion of this page later in May 2025 regarding this project which is close to my heart not just because of the amazing cats themselves but the incredible landscape which is the Himalaya, one of the most important biodiversity hotspots on the planet.
